What is identity theft ?

How can I protect myself against identity theft ?

Both the iammoving.com stop junk and change of address services help to greatly reduce the risk of identity fraud. By using our stop junk mail service, you can stop potential junk mailers at the source by notifying them to remove your name and address details from any of their mailing lists. When the company receives your stop junk notification through iammoving.com they are then obliged by law not to send you any more junk mail. When moving home, our change of address service helps fight identity theft by informing organisations that you do not want to hear from that you have moved to a new address, which prevents any mail ending up in the wrong hands. To give iammoving.com subscribers additional ways to protect their identity, we have partnered with the experts at CPP, the UK leaders in the life assistance market to help you take control of your identity.

I have not received my activation email

It may be caught up in your spam filter or office firewalls. Please request another one under the tab My Move or add iammoving.com to your safe sender's list.  Your email is important to the notification process as that is how you will receive confirmations from the organisations.

Will I receive confirmation from the organisations I notify ?

We work hard with all our partner organisations to confirm to you directly when they receive the notification from our system, and when they have actioned it. As in offline, some organisations are better than others at doing this and some have it as their policy that they never confirm to their customers. But the good news is many on our site do and many do it within 24 hours. But even if you do not receive confirmation from them, if it was sent electronically via our site, it will be actioned.

I am having problems entering my move details

Your old and new address need to be verified to ensure that they are entered in the correct format. Please enter your house/flat number or name (The Coach House, for example) and the full postcode, click on 'validate' for each address individually (both moving from and moving to address), select the appropriate address from those generated by the postcode look-up table. Then click on SAVE My Move Details once both addresses have been verified and moving dates entered. Then add your move details. If your moving-in date has yet to be confirmed, this can be added at a later stage.

Can I use the service if I am moving overseas ?

Yes, the site allows you to enter details of your new address outside of the UK click on enter address manually to complete international details.

Can I use the service to make joint notifications with my partner/spouse ?

Yes, on the registration page (or in my account if already registered), you can add details of a partner/spouse. For those organisations which are in joint names, you can then select to append your partner/spouse's details to that account when filling in the additional information each organisation may require.

What details do I need to get started ?

To get started, use the site as a checklist building up your account. It will be clear when you select the organisation what information they require that is specific to them such as an account/reference number. Mandatory fields are marked in pink, but even if the extra information is not mandatory it is sometimes helpful to complete it anyway so the organisation can act on your notification quicker. Some notifications require signatures such as those to Financial Institutions and so a letter will be generated which requires printing and posting.

What happens after I have sent the notifications ?

Once you have clicked to send your notifications, the details are transferred immediately to the organisations you selected. It is then their responsibility to process your moving details and contact you where necessary.

What happens if I forget my password ?

Simply click on the Forgot password ? link under the login box, enter your name and email address and, within a few minutes, you will receive an email with a link which you can click on to reset your password. Remember your password needs to be at least 8 characters long.

I have already moved, can I still use the service ?

Yes, you can come back to the site as many times as you like, before and after your move. Use it to inform companies you've forgotten, and you can use it for multiple moves as your list will be carried forward.

I cannot find the organisation I am looking for, what do I do ?

If the company/organisation you are looking for is not listed on the site, please let us know the name of the organisation you wish to add by emailing customercare@iammoving.com, with as many details as possible. We will use our best endeavours to get them listed and will inform you as soon as possible. There is also a quick search facility within the 'Organisation' tab.
